About

The Arts has been a part of Lesia’s in one form or another since childhood, if she was not trading her home made Barbie designs with the neighborhood children for their store bought ones, she was  altering the bell bottoms that her mom bought her into straight legs or gun mouths.

During high school she was one on 250 students that got selected to attend the newly formed Etobicoke School of the Arts, majoring in Visual Arts, with a minor of Dance. During her senior year she applied and gets accepted into the Fashion Design program at Central Technical School downtown Toronto.

She graduated Humber College with a double diploma (Business Management and Marketing) she worked shortly in customer service and around 1991, she started her own photographic business (LBT Commotions). This allowed her to work with many local and international media houses/publications (Mic Check Magazine, It’s Your Time Magazine, Reggaemania Magazine, Uprising International, SPLASH, Caribbean Camera, The Toronto Sun, The Jamaica Gleaner and Star, Canada Extra, Hardcore Newspaper).

Until December 2008, Dancehall Lesia had called dancehall home, where she captured the evolution of Dancehall culture and lifestyle through the lens of her camera for over 17 years from Toronto to Kingston, Jamaica. Her photographic pieces depicts what take place in the various Dancehall events from stage show, concerts, special events to Passa Passa ( Dances that take place on the street  of the inner city in Kingston, Jamaica) including random Dancehall events.
